This is a really good, but general, overview of home price averages across California. Along with the single/double income needed to cover the mortgage.

But as with most of these infographics, this is just a jumping off point.

As you can see at the bottom, you can get waaaaaay more for your money in Kern County as opposed to San Francisco County.

LA County definitely falls on the more expensive side, however, there are still more pockets of affordable housing in LA County as opposed to San Francisco --- which seems like a lost cause for the time being.
