Anytime you are looking to make improvements on your home, you should factor in the ROI (return on investment).
The standard line that bathrooms and kitchens sell houses, is still true. Buyers can overlook a lot of smaller design issues, if the bathrooms and kitchen are in good shape.
Angie's List put out this infographic about the 5 worst remodeling projects, but take it with a grain of salt as this was done as a national survey.
So while a pool may not get you a good ROI in Vermont, it could definitely improve your home's value in Los Angeles.
